"Nepal Academy and NeSChiL Collaborate to Organize a Global Symposium on Children's Literature"

Kathmandu- In a joint effort to promote art and literature among young minds, Nepal Academy and the Nepalese Children's Literature Society (NeSChiL) have announced their partnership to host an international conference centered around children's literature.

The conference is scheduled to take place from September 20th to September 22nd, 2024, in the vibrant city of Kathmandu. The initiative, spearheaded by Nepal Academy's Vice-Chancellor, Bimalkrishna Shrestha, will see the formation of a dedicated Steering Committee.

Comprising esteemed individuals from various literary backgrounds, the committee will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the conference. Notable members include Pramod Pradhan, President of NeSChiL, Dr. Dhan Prasad Subedi, Member-Secretary of Nepal Academy, KK Karmacharya, senior artist and former Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Bhola Shrestha, a library expert, Trailokyaman Banepali, a member of Nepal Academy's Academic Council, and several accomplished writers, critics, and representatives from Nepal Academy.

The conference aims to bring together 25 international participants from South Asian countries and beyond, alongside 100 representatives from Nepal. The attendees will comprise a diverse group of writers, editors, illustrators, librarians, translators, researchers, educators, publishers, and children themselves.

The event's agenda will include thought-provoking seminar presentations on various topics, engaging panel discussions, a captivating exhibition of children's books and artwork, interactive sessions between authors and children, and captivating drama performances.

This international symposium on children's literature serves as a significant platform for professionals and enthusiasts in the field to exchange ideas, insights, and experiences.

By nurturing a love for literature and the arts among children, the conference aims to foster creativity, imagination, and critical thinking among young readers while providing an opportunity for international collaboration and cultural exchange.
