"Himbu: A Literary Journey into the Heart of the Mountains Unveiled by Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa"

Kathmandu- In a celebration of art and literature, renowned tourism entrepreneur and mountaineer Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa launched his captivating book titled "Himbu" yesterday.

This literary masterpiece delves into the life and experiences of Mr. Sherpa, shedding light on his indomitable spirit amidst the majestic mountains.

The book launch event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including notable personalities from the tourism industry and literary circles.

The title "Himbu" translates to "Son of Mountains," and it serves as an intimate portrayal of Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa's remarkable journey. The book, published by SAS TRUST, was unveiled by Mr. Kanchha Sherpa, a member of the historic Edmund Hillary Expedition of 1953. Joining him were Gyalgen Sherpa, President of the Sherpa Society, Honorable Sonam Gyalzen Sherpa, Yogendra Shakya (Managing Director of Ace Hotel Groups), Dr. Arjun Karki (former Ambassador for the United States), Mingma Sherpa (the first summiteer of 14 - 8000m peaks in South Asia), and Ms. Dawa Yangzum Sherpa (the first female International Mountain Guide of Asia).

The book launch event was graced with the presence of Mr. Yubraj Nayaghare, the editor of the book, Mr. Mahesh Paudel, a book critic, Mr. Yogendra Shakya, a senior tourism entrepreneur, and Er. Sarosh Pradhan. They shared insightful anecdotes, moments, and the essence of the book, providing the audience with a glimpse into the profound narrative crafted by Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa.

Ms. Dawa Phuti Sherpa, the eldest daughter of Mr. Sherpa and former Ambassador for Spain, warmly welcomed all the guests with her heartfelt speech, setting the stage for an emotionally charged event. 

In a gesture of generosity and commitment to social causes, Mr. Sherpa announced his pledge to donate Rs. 3,50,000 to the Ghunsa Foundation in Taplejung, the Tripura Sundari Mandir in Dolpa, and the Juving Village Kidook. This philanthropic act further solidifies Mr. Sherpa's dedication to making a positive impact beyond his literary achievements.
