Budhanilkantha Literature and Culture Festival Celebrates Art and Literature

Kathmandu- The Budhanilkantha Literature and Culture Festival, a vibrant celebration of art and literature, concluded on a high note in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.

The two-day festival, held by Budhanilkantha Municipality, brought together renowned poets, artists, and literary enthusiasts to honor and explore the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. The festival's grand finale was marked by a special felicitation ceremony, where esteemed poet Durgalal Shrestha was honored with the prestigious Budhanilkantha Lifetime Achievement Honour.

Shrestha's remarkable contributions to both Nepali and Nepalbhasa literature were recognized by Mayor Mitharam Adhikari and Deputy Mayor Anita Lama. Throughout the festival, various engaging sessions were conducted, encompassing diverse aspects of art and literature.

One notable session titled "Falcha Wa Chinakhan" hosted by Deep Darpan featured 14 talented poets, including Laxmi Mali, RM Dangol, Avaya Shrestha, Biswabimohan Shrestha, Fulman Bal, Laxmi Rumba, Rabat, Mitralal Pangyani, Shakuntala Joshi, Ranjana Niraula, Sudesh Satyal, Basudev Adhikari, and Jayanti Satyal, who captivated the audience with their soul-stirring poems.

Another engaging discussion took place among three mayors, Mitharam Adhikari of Budhanilkantha Municipality, Prakash Adhikari of Tokha Municipality, and Deepak Kumar Risal of Gokarneswore Municipality. Journalist Bimal Acharya facilitated the conversation, which revolved around the possibilities and challenges of urban areas.

The festival also delved into the realm of public health, with Dr. Bhagawan Koirala, Dr. Madhu Dixit, and Dr. Shankar Man Rai shedding light on various aspects of healthcare during the session titled "Mha Fula," moderated by Dr. Sushil Baral. 

Exploring the intersection of art and life, Sneh Sayami engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with Jiban Ghimire, Puskal Malla, and Lakpafuti Sherpa during the session "Desh Yasari Banchha." The discussion delved into the influence of art in shaping society and individual identities. 

Furthermore, the festival provided a platform for visionary discussions on the future of theater, cinema, and small industries. Kedar Shrestha, a prominent theatre director, led a session titled "Nangsal" where he shared insights with artists Laxmi Bardewa, Buddhi Tamang, and Bijay Baral.

Additionally, three distinguished industrialists, Sita Nepali, Sanu Shrestha, and Sarala Luitel, explored the possibilities of small-scale industries in the municipality during the session "Sapana Ko Sahar," moderated by Sita Lama.

The Budhanilkantha Literature and Culture Festival proved to be a resounding success, igniting a renewed passion for art and literature among participants and attendees. Anita Lama, the festival coordinator, expressed her delight, stating, "It was an amazing experience. We are inspired to continue this enriching tradition in the years to come." 

The festival provided a platform for artists, poets, and literary enthusiasts to come together, celebrate cultural diversity, and foster a deeper appreciation for the arts.

With its wide range of sessions and discussions, the Budhanilkantha Literature and Culture Festival has left an indelible mark on Nepal's vibrant artistic landscape.
