"Black Yak's Remarkable Initiative Empowers Mount Everest Tourism and Safeguards Climbers"

Kathmandu-  In a significant move to bolster the tourism sector and ensure the safety of climbers, Black Yak Company Ltd, based in Korea, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to support the courageous Icefall doctors who play a vital role in establishing climbing routes on the majestic Mount Everest.

Under the newly formed partnership, Black Yak, in collaboration with the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) and the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) committing to providing essential equipment and fixing ropes to the Icefall doctors for the next five years.

The MoU, ceremoniously signed by Kang Tae Sun, Chairman of BYN Black Yak, Nima Nuru Sherpa, President of NMA, and Tshering Sherpa, CEO of SPCC, marks a significant milestone in the preservation of the mountain environment and the promotion of responsible tourism.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Chairman Sun stated, "Black Yak is immensely proud to support the Icefall doctors, who serve as the backbone of Everest climbing. We are fully committed to assisting all endeavors that contribute to the preservation of the mountain environment."

The involvement of former board director of the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal representative of the Korean Alpine Federation, Ngawa Nima Sherpa, and NMA President Nima Nuru Sherpa proved instrumental in bringing Black Yak on board for this noble cause.

During an event held in Namche Bazaar, Black Yak officially handed over the essential equipment and ropes to the SPCC. This symbolic gesture marked the commencement of the Icefall doctors' journey to the Everest base camp, where they will begin the critical task of rope fixing in the upcoming spring season. The event saw the presence of Black Yak Chair Sun, marketing director Seok Koung Hoon, project director Kim Jung Be, NMA and SPCC officials, as well as the Icefall doctors themselves.

The Icefall doctors, operating under the supervision of the SPCC, play a pivotal role in creating a safe route for climbers. Working tirelessly in the dead of night, they strategically place ladders throughout the treacherous Khumbu icefall, risking their lives and leaving their families behind to help others achieve their mountaineering goals.

Expressing gratitude towards Black Yak's invaluable support, NMA President Nima Nuru Sherpa acknowledged the unwavering dedication of the Icefall doctors, emphasizing their continuous presence at the base camp to assist climbers from around the world. Sherpa added, "While others may achieve their goals and leave the base camp, these doctors remain every year to provide support. Black Yak's commitment extends far beyond the initial five-year period, as they truly understand the immense value these individuals bring."

Furthermore, Black Yak's representative in Nepal, Bhim Gurung, highlighted the company's dedication to environmental conservation and community development as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Black Yak has consistently encouraged Korean trekkers visiting Nepal to actively participate in cleaning up the mountains and bringing back any waste they encounter.

The alliance between Black Yak, SPCC, and NMA represents a significant step forward in promoting responsible tourism, ensuring the safety of climbers, and preserving the natural beauty of Mount Everest. This groundbreaking initiative sets a commendable example for the tourism industry, fostering a sense of collective responsibility towards sustainable practices and the welfare of those involved in this awe-inspiring endeavor.

As the sun rises over the majestic Himalayas, the collaboration between Black Yak and the Icefall doctors shines brightly, illuminating a path towards a future where tourism flourishes in harmony with nature, and climbers conquer their dreams with the utmost support and protection.
