Chinese language training for tourism entrepreneurs kicks off

Kathmandu- The sixth edition of Chinese language training for tourism entrepreneurs of the country has kicked off today. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Hit Bahadur Tamang and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song jointly inaugurated the training. The training conducted by the Kathmandu-based Chinese Embassy in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council will continue for next six months. On the occasion, Minister Tamang said that language would help attract tourists from China.

He stressed the need to offer attractive packages to bring more tourists from neighboring countries, India and China. Ambassador Chen shared his experience that Nepali people had learnt the Chinese language relatively quickly and clearly. He claimed that the Chinese language was not only the basis of ancient history but also the foundation of scientific development. Noting that many traders and investors are preparing to come to Nepal, he said human resources having knowledge of Chinese language are their first requirement. He also stressed the need to learn the language to enhance the relations between the two countries.

The Chinese envoy also urged the Chinese people to learn Nepali language and connect with Nepal's art and culture. Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Hikmat Singh Ayer said language is a powerful weapon in tourism hospitality and expressed the belief that the training of the world's second largest language would help promote Chinese tourism in Nepal. Likewise, Council Chair Harish Chandra Shah said that 200 people who had already received Chinese language training are active in various tourism businesses in the country. There is a demand to conduct Chinese language classes outside the capital, he shared.
