Jhapa wins Koshi province women's football championship

Khotang- Jhapa has won the Koshi provincial women's football tournament by defeating Bhojpur 1-0 in the final match held on Tuesday at Yalambar Stadium in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-14 Jenifer Ranamgar scored the decisive goal for Jhapa in the 15th minute of the first half. Along with the title, Jhapa received a cash prize of Rs 200,000 while Bhojpur won Rs. 100,000 along with the runners-up title. Jenifer was also announced the best player of the tournament, with nine goals. She had scored 6 goals against Taplejung in the semi-final match.

Best goalkeeper award went to Jasoda Rai of Jhapa, best defender to Kamala Shrestha of Bhojpur, best midfielder to Simran Rai of Jhapa, best striker to Aarti Bhujel of Bhojpur and emerging player Riya Rai of Khotang. They received a prize of Rs 3,000 each. The tournament was organized with financial support of Koshi Province Ministry of Social Development and Provincial Sports Development Board. The province-level women's football tournament was organised for the first time in the stadium built with the help of donors and fund raising.
