Committee meetings should be made conclusive, says Speaker Ghimire

Kathmandu- Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged chief whips of the political parties represented in the parliament to conclude the bills under consideration by holding meeting of the parliamentary committees on the day when the parliament is not in session. Stating that parliamentary affairs are the major responsibility of the Members of Parliament, the Speaker called for better role of the chief whips in making the committee meetings conclusive, considering the number of bills under consideration.

During a discussion with the chief whips today, it was shared that a meeting of business advisory committee has been summoned for tomorrow at 11:30 am in finalizing the agenda of the PM responding to queries from MPs at the House of Representatives the same afternoon. According to CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, the Speaker urged the Chief Whips to play a role in making the question and answer program dignified, orderly and effective. Likewise, it was discussed to develop a calendar for the parliament meeting in 15 days and implement it effectively.
